Nostalgia Electrics Ric 100 Retro Automatic

First let me say that I loved this ice manufacturers It was the only source of ice in my home and I utilized it several times a week over the last 10 months. Around the holidays and in the summer it was employed nearly daily. It was piercing as so a heap of other reviewers indicated, but something you may get employed venomous It made the amount of ice as described in the online descriptions. The color attracted me to this unit, as well as the pricey It was fewer expensively than such a good deal of of the other units I had been reviewing for purchased This machine was incisively what I expected.

Recently, it stopped working. The unit won’t power on consistently. When it at last does power on, the ice tray is malfunctioning due to a crack running up the side. I contacted the manufacturer, but because it was out of the 90 or 180 day warranty period there was nothing they could do except to recommend a local appliance fix shop. I don’t recommend this model or this producers The manufacturers’ user guide for this ice maker touts this as an ice maker to last for years of utilized Well, that has not been my experience. I think the price of this unit is too much to spend for something that breaks in less than a year.

I WAS GIVEN THIS PRODUCT AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT AND employed IT FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY (JULY 4TH) FOR OUR PARTY. IT IS TRUE THAT IT IS NOT THE FASTEST ICE MAKER, BUT THIS THING WILL CONTINUALLY CHUG OUT ICE CUBES ALL DAY LONG. I LIKED THAT I COULD COLLECT THEM OR LET MY GUESTS COME AND SCOOP OUT THEIR OWN ICE. THIS REALLY WAS A HIT AT THE PARTY AND EVERYONE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A VERY ATTRACTIVE APPLIANCE. IT ALSO HAS such a good deal of FEATURES THAT I REALLY LIKE. I LIKE HOW THE ICE MACHINE WILL STOP MAKING CUBES WHEN THE BIN IS FULL, SO THAT IT DOES NOT OVERFLOW OR BACKUP AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. I ALSO LIKE THAT WHEN YOU DO EMPTY THE ICE COMPARTMENT IT STARTS MAKING CUBES AGAIN ON it is OWN. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU may CHOOSE THE SIZE ICE CUBES THAT YOU WOULD LIKE (SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE). THIS MACHINE DOES NOT PRODUCE ICE LIKE A PROFESSIONAL ICE MAKER, BUT I FOUND IT VERY USEFUL AND reliable FOR PRODUCING A STEADY AMOUNT OF ICE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DAY AND WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND IT!

Seems that many of us had ordinary problems.

I had this machine for less then a year and it stopped working, the ice tray broke and the motor will not turn on. The manufacturer will not do anything because it was out of warranty. They would not even do anything else to support me. I feel that this product is not worth the cash and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Worked fairly consistently for with regards to 10 months. Then quit (seems to be a standard thread with others reviews). Product appears to have been discontinued and the company has offered no support. Don’t purchase it is There are more reliable units out there for less.

I’ve used this ice maker every day for most of 2 years. I know its out of warranty, but when an ice cube got stuck beneath the tray, it cracked up the side. I’m willing to purchase a new ice tray, but can’t get any support to do so. I’m becoming told that there are no parts available for its So because a 2 dollar plastic share broke, I’m out $200. Up till now, I’ve had no troubles with this ice maker, but whether or not you need help later on, don’t anticipate much. My firstborn review was 1 star, but it must be 4 stars for product and 1 star for product/customer service. What good is any product without such a lot of kind of client service? Your not going to purchase a car whether or not the tires that come on it are not replaceable and when worn out, you have to purchase another car, are you? $20,000 or $200. It does not matter.

This written when the machine was new: While such a heap of reviewers seem to have had galore negative issues with this machine, I’ve had none but positive. It’s attractive, fits nicely on the countertop, easy to access and clean, and, best of all, makes a good amount of ice very reliably. I found no problem with start-up: took it out of the shipping package, swabbed it out with so many baking soda and water, poured in water, and turned it on. Got ice fast! Ice isn’t cubes but, being rounded, fits better in the glass. Machine keeps a continuous supply available until water runs out. Then I plainly open the top-sided lid, pour in a gallon of spring water, and within minutes have all the ice I want or need. I can listen the ice dropping into the well as it’s made, but this does not annoy: it plainly reassures me that the next time I want to dip into it, I’ll find ice and a swell deal of its I heartily recommend this little item.

News Bulletin 20 Jan 2010: as such a heap of others have said here, the machine stopped working today. I fiddled with its guts, to no avail. In November, I gave it 5 stars. For the time it worked, I’d still give it 5 stars. But now that it decided on its own to die, I’ll arbitrarily give it 2 stars. Buy the machine whether or not you want a few glorious months of great ice. If you want something else, buy some other machine.

I promptly returned this. It took eternally to make ice, was exceedingly loud, and after running it without variation from 5:30 am to 1 pm, still only had in regards to 6 pounds of ice. Much better off driving to the store and paying $2 for 5 lb bag. Probably used that much in electricity trying to make it with this machine!!!!!

I’ve been through two so far and neither has worked brand new out-of-the-box! Since I’m sick of returning them (and Sears only had a couple left on their shelves), I spoke to “Al” in client service at The Helman Group, Ltd in Oxnard, CA. He said to bring it back to Sears for a refund (not a replacement) because there were a lot of troubles with them and the line was discontinued for that reason.

While I be grateful for his honesty, it’s obvious that there was a design or production problem but, since they’d already been sold to the retailer, it wasn’t Helman’s problem! Great!

I plan on taking a trip soon and at 2 dollars a pop for ice I thought I’d give a Portable icemaker a try, Plus I thought it would come in handy at home. Well I shopped around on the internet and stores and selected the Nostalgic Icemaker and boy was I impressed. It started making ice in in regards to 15 minuts and was full in regarding 1 and 1/2 hours. I was amazed.Well it is better than I expected and just as pretty as the picture when I ordered it is And of course made it all happen. Thanks. N.R.

I purchased the Nostalgia Electrics ice maker to keep out of the way of multiple ice trays until my ice maker is connected. It takes approx 3 3/4 quarts of water and makes as much ice in each batch as 4-6 ice trays in only a little over two hours. Easy to empty and fill, the only draw back is the ice is still “wet” and needs to be freed up shortly after freezing to remain loose. An magnificent purchased
