Cameras improve, lenses ameliorate and galore things in the camera earth seem to get better every year. So why do camera makers sell the same old strap year after year? Thus, other companies have come to the rescue to give photographers something better and more robust. A swell product is the Sun Sniper strap which offers many dissimilar straps to meet different needs from the amateur photographer right up to the pro who is shooting with two cameras.

I was given the unique opportunity to test out the Sun Sniper Pro camera strap on behalf of the Saskatoon Camera Club. My introductory impressions is that is exceedingly well constructed and feels so smooth when you grab your camera from your side to shoot. I tried it out with my Canon 40D with the 24-105mm lens and a 70-200mm f2.8 and they felt outstanding sitting on the side of my hip.

The Sun Sniper strap attaches to your camera using the D-ring screw on the bottom where the tripod mount is located. Just screw in the strap to your camera, slip the strap over your need to and you are ready to go. The Sun Sniper’s strap is adjustable with the shock absorbing shoulder pad which as well is constructed so that you may hide any of the excess strap with the velcro enclosures. The strap is contoured to hug your shoulder and feels extremely comfortable.

I tried out the strap while shooting. My main shooting style is of landscapes so I took it out for an afternoon around town. No camera bag, no tripod. Just a camera, huge 70-200mm lens and the Sun Sniper. For this style of photographer, the strap was amazing. The camera sat nicely along my hip while I was walking around and I didn’t even notice the weight. When I needed to take a shot, I just grabbed the camera from my side and with the sliding mechanism of the attachment, it was a smooth and easy transition to take the photo.

My next photo shoot took me to a local hockey game. For regarding 3 hours I was shooting the game with my camera and 70-200mm. When there was live action of the game, I was quickly taking such a lot of photos hand kept and following the play. While there was a break, I would move around or just wait for the next play. This is when I could take the weight off my hands and arms and let the strap give me a rest. It felt so good. Walking around the crowd with the lens by my side or behind me worked out just great. Quickly I could just put my camera in this position and shoot.

I did notice that when I as well employed the Sun Sniper in other situations where I would use my smaller, lighter lenses, the bigger heavier lenses sat better along my hip. The heavy lenses would point straight down towards the ground where the lighter lenses seemed to have a tendency to stick out away from my body.

My one complaint regarding the camera strap is that it mounts in the tripod mount and due to my main shooting style as a landscape and nature photographer, I have a tendency to rely on my tripod.

In conclusion, this strap is outstanding for the photographer who spends a lot of time on the move. The padded, shock absorbing will have to pad is extremely comfortable and I don’t remember it ever slipping while I was using its It is lasting and easy to applied The smooth operation is the thing I like most. I found that once the camera strap is attached, the extra bulk in your camera bag takes up more space. The Sun Sniper Pro retails for under $85 (B and H Photo) which seems costly for a camera strap but worth it is I am perpetually looking for ways to make my photography experience more pleasurable so that I take more photos and this product would mainly benefit me.

I do a lot a photography with my DSLR. I found that the formal neck straps were unwieldy and uncomfortable. I even tried making my own. I eventually saw an add for the Sun Sniper and it seemed just the thing. I ordered it greatly for a trip I was when it comes to to take to Tuscany where I would be using my camera constantly. When it came, I was very pleased when I tried it out in my living room. I was a small concerned regarding the hardware that attached the camera to the strap. It seemed a little cheap (especially when taking into account the overall price for the rig) but I thought it must be OK.

When I got to Tuscany, I begun taking a lot of pictures and the Sun Sniper was working well. Then, on the 3rd day, while merely walking along, my very costly Nikon DSLR dropped onto the pavement. My equally pricey lens was cracked. When I examined the Sun Sniper I without delay saw that the swivel had come out of its socket causing my camera to drop. It was evident that the socket for the swivel was elongated and could not hold the swivel ball. My suspicions in regards to the cheap hardware were correct. I have since seen alike rigs on the internet that are much cheaper. Built tough. Handily carries my D700, SB800 and Drive without fear of instrumentation failure or strap breaking. I’d commend it to any person that carries a heavy DSLR.

Bought this after rave reviews. I mounted it on my 5Dmkii with a Canon 70-200 2.8L IS lens. I tightened the mount securely. After about 3 hours it permitted my gear to drop to the cement and the lens broke in half. The Camera as well has such a lot of internal damage as well. Hopefully I may get my gear repaired before 2 crucial planned photo tours. But I will not use it again. I have one for my Micro 4/3 and it may work more securely on lighter gear, but needs to be checked frequently. Would unquestionably not commend its Unsafe for your priceless equipment.

After purchasing this strap, we were touring England, Scotland and Ireland. Each morning, I would check the connection to the camera to see that it was tight…only to have my Nikon D7000 camera fall off the strap while entering the gate to Edinburgh castle, apparently after having worked itself loose from the connector that is so highly praised by the company. Fortunately, I was competent to piece the camera back together enough to carry on using it through the trip. After this incident, I on a regular basis checked to see that the connection was very tight and secure…only to have it fall off the strap once again in the Tower of London, hitting the cobblestones and demolishing my $700 Nikon 18-200 VR lens.

I had just checked not 30 minutes before this that the connection was still tight.

I’ll never use it again and will have to purchase a new lens. I’ve written the company to see what they’ll do but don’t hold out much hope that they care since they already have my cash for the costly useless piece of equipment!

I purchased this strap to replace a more conventional neoprene version on my Canon 5D MK2 camera. I use a battery grip and steadily shoot with more spectacular lenses, as a result the camera is bulky, heavy, and ofttimes awkward to get into shooting position quickly. The Sun Sniper Pro works like a champ! My camera stays behind my back, out of the way but is effortlessly accessed at a moments notice.

I highly commend this strap for any person who is active and loves to use their camera. The safety cable integral to the strap also gives me peace of mind as I live overseas and oftentimes carry my gear into the street. Absolutely no chance that somebody will come up behind me a cut the strap and run, my gear is safe!

This is a graet product! I thought it was a bit expensive for a camera strap but after using it it is well worth the money. Anybody who has lugged a camera with a long lense will actually be grateful for this strap.

This is so much more comfortable than the regular around the neck strap and it’s built to last. I also like the built in shock absorber and the extra security of having a steel cable built into the strap. If you use a Digital SLR then this is the best strap cash may buy. It’s unquestionably worth the money.

This camera strap is like no other. I have a Canon 7D with a 100-400mm lens, which in a combo is not the lightest thing. With this strap I was competent to walk around all day (10 hours) through the zoo and another day hiking (8 hours) and it remained comfortable and gave me no fatigue at all. My friends using much littler lenses along with common camera straps felt neck fatigue.

This strap is easy to use, easy to walk with, and even with a full backpack, it is super easy to swing up for shooting.

My friends liked my strap so much they both bought one as well.

Get this strap as soon as you cannot You will never go back to any other.

Tough, comfortable ingenious contraption! I made a DIY of one of these myself before I shelled out the huge bucks for it to see if I liked its Mine worked out good but was uncomfortable because it was made out of 1″ webbing and an old messanger bag shoulder pad. This thing is FANTASTIC! I may carry my D7000 with a Sigma 500mm lens all day! I debated amid the Sun Sniper & the R-Strap, the shock absorber sold me on this one. It is well worth the price, specially if you carry a large lens. I have also utilized it with a 50mm and you nearly forget that it is theres I use a tripod a lot and the only drawback is that this attaches to the tripod screw hole. If you use a Manfrotto Tripod this may be rigged with Black Rapid FastenR-T1 for Manfrotto 200PL-14 QR Plate (or just use the stock Manfrotto D-ring) & Black Rapid ConnectR-2 Second Generation / Locking Carabiner and it is no longer an issue because you can keep the tripod mount on the camera. To me altho I like the Sun Sniper ball bearing mount, it removes easily for tripod mounting. Don’t loose the rubber washer, it makes certain the mount is secure. My paperwork did say Sun Sniper would send a free replacement. Buy it, you’ll love it!
